Skittles Candy - The Pot of Sweets at the End of the Rainbow

Mention the word Skittles in Europe and you might be invited to a lawn bowling tournaMent. Not, here in the land of greasy, Fast Foods and sugary beverages, though. No, here in the U.S. a Skittle or Skittles Candy to be exact, is a chewy, bite size, morsel of heaven.

That's right! The makers of Skittles Sweets will have you believe that it is actually like tasting a rainbow. And if you were in fact to take a bite out of a rainbow, the distinct flavor combination of Orange, Lemon, Lime, Grape and Strawberry found in the Original Skittles, would certainly grace your drooling taste buds.

Now, I don't know about all that, but what I do know is that Skittles taste great. But don't take my word for it. By the end of today over 200 million of Skittles sweets will have dropped of the assembly line. That is enough to give each school age child in the U.S. at least one sweet or sour candy bite.

And speaking of school age children, one Kindergarten teacher claims that Skittles Candy actually beat out Starburst as the candy of choice for bribing her classroom into better grades.

Another interesting bit of trivia has it that each year enough Skittles Candy delights are made to leave a trail every inch to the Moon. That would certainly make for a tempting trip - Don't you say?

Hungry for some more Fruit Skittles Fun Facts...

Well, did you know that a standard bag of Skittles Candy has on average 42 tasty sweets and that it takes eight whole hours to coat the fruity center of each delightful treat with its own candy shell?

Also, each one of the five Skittles flavors makes up approximately 20 percent of each bag.

Speaking about fruit flavors, did you know that the five original flavors found in 'Skittles the Candy' were not left to mere chance? Rather YOU, the consumer, actually prefer the Orange, Lemon, Lime, Grape and Strawberry Flavors most - and not necessarily in that order.
